So how do I tell if my pet has got fleas?
Sit him or her down on a sheet of wet white paper and then scrub the
fur on his or her back vigorously. Fleas pass dried blood specks after a
meal, so you will scrub out small specks of dirt which then begin to turn
red as they dissolve into the water.
There may be several things going on.
- You are seeing fleas which have just arrived on your pet and are about to die as a result of your excellent work
- You are seeing fleas which have hatched from one of the resistant stages of the life cycle (It can take 6 months to work through these). These too are susceptible to your treatments.
- Your pet has found a nest / burrow / game reserve in your garden / the neighbours apartment, and is continually being infested from its environment.
- You've missed a hot spot in the house.(Sorry)
