Vaccine Amnesty
It's all too easy to let things like annual vaccinations slip by. Some of the diseases we vaccinate against are much less common than they were - mostly as a result of successful vaccination campaigns in the past, and it's rare that a month or two's delay proves fatal.Particularly when other pets are vaccinated and provide a "ring of protection". Unfortunately, things are a little more complicated:
Protection is not for life:
- The protection for some dog and cat diseases lasts for up to 3 years, BUT
- CAT FLU, CAT LEUKAEMIA and DOG LEPTOSPIROSIS currently need annual boosters
- Missing a booster by more than 3 months means your pet will need to start the course again, with 2 injections
- Not all of these diseases rely on direct contact with an infected animal to spread
- When fewer animals are boosted, the risk of infection increases (similar to the increase in measles outbreaks in children because of less MMR vaccination)
- Diseases change over time - up to date vaccines are needed to maintain immunity (this may be happening now with dog parvovirus infection)
- ALL BOOSTERS INCLUDE A FULL HEALTH CHECK BY A VETERINARY SURGEON

Our vaccination amnesty means that you can now bring your pet's immunity up to date for the cost of only a booster - the second vaccine is FREE
If your pet has missed it's booster vaccination by more than 3 months, call one of our surgeries and book an appointment for a booster. You will be offered a second catch-up injection free-of-charge.
You will automatically be reminded about next year's vaccination, and also, registration as a client with up-to-date boosters entitles you to a reduced rate emergency callout fee.
