We thought you might to know a little more about some of our team members here at Avonvale, so we had a chat with our Receptionist Liz.

Q: What’s your job title and how long have you worked at Avonvale?

A: I'm a receptionist here at Avonvale and have worked here for 12.5yrs

Q: Why do you like working for Avonvale? What do you look forward to most at work?

A: I love making connections with regular clients and pets, and gaining their trust. I work with a great team and enjoy banter with my work colleagues.

Q: What are the least favourite parts of your job?

A: It's always so sad when pets have to be put to sleep, especially when you've known them since they were a puppy or kitten, It feels like losing one of your own. Also having to deal with rude and aggressive clients; some people seem to forget that we're human beings with feelings too.

Q: What made you want to do this job?

A: When I was coming to the end of my maternity leave after having my first child, the company I worked for previously couldn't accommodate my request for alternative hours. My mum saw the Avonvale job advertised and suggested I apply; it was completely different to anything I had done previously but here I am coming up to 13 years later!

Q: What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?

A: Turning a bad day around usually involves buying treats, usually cake or chocolate, for everyone - nothing puts a smile on someone's face more than giving them a treat they weren't expecting!

Q: If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

A: I would be a tiger - they can be fierce and protective but really like to hide away and not be seen.

Q: What’s the biggest misconception people have about your position?

A: That I JUST sit on my bottom all day long JUST answering the phone or cuddling puppies!!

Q: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

A: I am extremely shy, and I have a diploma in make up artistry (that's two things, I know!)

Q: What’s something you saw recently that made you smile?

A: My 2 kids working together to make my 40th birthday super special!!

Q: What’s your guilty pleasure?

A: A huge bar of chocolate and a good vampire or murder mystery TV series. Also SHOES!! And horror movies.
