We are pleased to give Monty a braveheart award. This is an award for patients that have been through a lot but always come in happy with a wagging tail and Monty definitely fits the bill.
Monty came in to us at the end of September. He was off colour, walking round like he was drunk and had a head tilt. He cried when we tried to touch his ear. He was initially treated for a severe middle ear infection but after 2 days he hadn't improve and Steve felt there was more going on. Monty was referred to a specialist neurologist at the Willows. There he underwent an MRI and had a sample of spinal fluid taken. They found that he was suffering from a condition called meningoencephalitis. This is where the lining of the brain becomes inflamed and can be really painful.
He was started on a course of chemotherapy and has to come in to cycles of 4 injections every 3 weeks. He has made a remarkable recover and is now back to his old self. Despite having to come in for regular injections he always is happy to see us. He is only one and a half and has been through a lot already.
